ive been wanting to get an old thinkpad for a while now mainly to try out linux. i dont plan on doing anything to wild on it, all its gotta do is run a document editor and web browsing
wanted upgrades/current issues:
even tho im running mint xfce i still need more ram for this thing (ddr3 kinda sucks). thankfully it wont cost me too much to upgrade since it is ddr3.
the disc drive on this specific one doesnt fully clip in thanks to its previous owner need to fidget with shit so ill have to replace the the clip that holds it in. i dunno even know where to get one, probably gonna have to 3d print one.
there is no wifi module installed for some reason. my only guess is that it didnt come with one from the factory which is weird becasue it has the pcie slot and antennas for a module but no module. this is probably the thing ill get first for it considering the only way to get online is with a wired hotspot or the built in ethernet.
way down the line maybe not evern every i would like to replace the screen with some kind of lcd panel instead of the include tn panel. the viewing angles arent the worst ive seen but its still a tn panel.
debating if its even worth the research time but im not a huge fan of the trackpad on this model but i think because i got the thing for free its somethingim just gonna suffer with.

everyday is new hurdle when it comes to the server. its a hodgepodge of old pc parts left behind from upgrades. its currently only running jellyfin but i do have plans to run some other programs once i find the willpower to. the specs are as follows: ryzen 5 5500, 32GBs ddr4 @ 3200MHz, geforce rtx 2060, 256GBs no name boot ssd, 2x 8TBs Seagate drives, windows 11 (unfortunately).
wanted upgrades/ current issues:
i so desperatly want to get a server rack and server case for this thing. i just dont know where id put it which is my reason for not getting one right now.
hardware wise i think im fine. like i said before this is a hodgepodge of old pc parts so everything is last gen. i may upgrade the cpu soon (to what idk) but honestly my cpu is dying or anything so its whatever. i may buy another drive soonish just to stay ahead but again i not really an issue.
as i mentioned before this machine is running windows 11 which is terrible to run a server on. the only reason im even on windows to begin with is because im familiar with it and linux lowkirkenuinely scares me. i attempted to switch to ubtunu server a few months ago but that broke everything and i lost all user data for the jellyfin which was very annoying (in before some r/linux douchebag comes in here talking about arch or some dumb shit i dont care kick rocks). i do want to switch to linux in the future just for ease of use and to get away from microslop and its bihourly updates to their ai spyware, but its just very overwhelming and i dont want to fuck it up again.
i want to run pihole to block all the ads for my household but again its a bit overwhelming and i dont want to fuck it up. i also dont want my isp or my roommate to kill me for breaking some law or some shit. so im gonna research it some more until im fully sure everything will work and no one will die.
i need to get a vpn up and running. the government is very reddit pilled and corny rn so i feel like its time i finally did that. im also tired of paying for mega.nz every month. its a good service but i have a nas for backups so im only really using it for the vpn and remote backups (which i dont really need). again need to make sure my isp doesnt kill me in my sleep
iPod 5.5 Gen.
got this thing from elite obsolete elevtronics a few years ago. it was great for a few months but then one of the sd cards corrputed and i could figure out why it wasnt working so i gave up on it for a while. in the past year i rediscovered that i had it and ive become better at fixing tech since then so its now a project again. its running rockbock and not the default iPod os.
wanted upgrades/ current issues:
i got a newer bigger battery for it since the old one was from factory and wasnt holding a charge that well. its great but the problem is now its doesnt fit in the orginal housing. there are aftermarket ones that just give you extra space but this one from moonlit market has pretty good reviews and also adds usb c which is a major plus since the 40 pin connecter kinda blows. its kinda pricey considering its like half the price of the iPod its self but totally worth it imo.
the click wheel just doesnt work anymore. i can scroll just fine but play/pause and skip just dont do anything, which is kind of important. the click wheel arent expensive and you can get a decent from just about anywhere. i am a bit worried that i may break something when installing it but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
need to figure out a more streamlined method of torrenting tracks

this is my *REDACTED* ar-15. its designed by hoffman tactical. if you also want to make one (highly recommended) he has a very in depth guide on how to do so on his site. i have yet to fire it because every fud that owns a range in my God forsaken state wont let me shoot it there. it does cycle and i am very proud of her for doing so. and for all the second ammendment haters and right wing bootlickers this weapon is perfectly legal in my state so sit on it and rotate cocksuckers.

as said before ive never had the chance to fire it so that is something id like to do. i have friends who live outside city limits and have lots of property but convincing them to let me test out my homemade firearm is a bit of a crazy ask.
the top screw post on the but stock is set in to far so i cant screw in the the top of the butt. im most likely gonna have to reprint the whole stock in order to fix it which is a pain but that shouldnt impact the guns performance in any real way.
need to sight the rifle in but before that i need to get an actual sight and/or optic.
thanks to the rapist's big beautiful bill suppresors are now able to be bought and shipped to your house with no extra requirements. i will be getting one.
